The NOIDA COVID RELIEF 2020 project, co-led by enCOMPASSion, a Goonj partner, and Fidus Law Chambers, ran from March 30 to July 1, 2020.
Through this project, we offered dry ration relief to migrant workers and daily wagers in Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad. We also responded to some SOS calls from Delhi. Our RELIEF KITS include Dry Ration, Vegetables, and Hygiene products. In June, we also offered Travel Kits to migrant workers heading home, containing non perishable and nutritious food items for travelling workers and their families.
Relief work is built on collaboration, volunteerism, and a common purpose of caring for our fellow human beings. This project started as a collaboration between Fidus Law Chambers and enCOMPASSion, and over a period of time, many other organisations have been of incredible support. At the same tie, without volunteers and individuals showing up, we would not have gone as far as we did.
As we close their project and campaign, we are delighted to report the following key highlights:
- We reached 27309 migrant workers and daily wagers with Dry Ration RELIEF KITS
- We reached over 3517 migrant workers traveling home with non-perishable TRAVEL KITS.
- 156 contributions, with some repeat contributors
- INR 13,33,656 raised in support of this work + INR 12,50,000 as a grant from Wipro Foundation
Our next steps will be to work more closely and intensively with a local communities in Gautam Buddha Nagar to address the economic challenges that the Covid-19 lockdown, and social challenges from the pandemic itself, will have on the most vulnerable communities. We are also launching a learning community programme for people who want to contribute to social change, learn about Nonviolent Communication in Action, and focus on making the world a better place!
